These magnets are made from lightweight barium and iron oxides and
differ from materials commonly used to make permanent magnets. It has
a high resistance to demagnetization (no keepers are needed), ageing
effects are negligible and has a high electrical resistivity.
These magnets magnetize best across thin sections instead of in the
conventional long dimension. They are magnetized parallel to the axis
with NORTH on one face and SOUTH on the other.
