A general purpose double pan beam balance housed in a hardwood
case, fully glazed having divided doors, fitted on a teak wood
base with 3 levelling screws. The lightweight brass beam is 215mm
in length, graduated and fitted with 2 poising nuts for zero
adjustment. The pans are suspended by stirrups from double hooks
(used for upthrust experiments) attached to the beam.
A plumbline by the side of the pillar is for accurate leveling.
Readings are indicated by a pointer on a white scale with black
markings.The arrestment is the vertical raising type.
